Dear Sir/Madam:

We, the undersigned Branch Leaders of Families for Lead Freedom Now!, submit the following seven (7) concerns and related recommendations for changes to the proposed Syracuse Lead Ordinance.

We submit these concerns and recommendations in accordance with the 30-day comment period, running from February 5, 2020 through March 5, 2020 afforded under the New York State Environmental Quality Review Act.

The urgency is great for adoption of new practices to make Syracuse housing safe from lead hazards. We, and the families we represent, suffer from the system shortfalls in Syracuse’s health and housing infrastructure that are easy enough to correct where there is leadership and a willingness to do so.

For the sake of our children, and the well-being of all children in Syracuse, we urge adoption of these (or very similar) changes in order to make the Syracuse Lead Ordinance a viable and practical tool that can effectively and significantly reduce the annual cases of childhood lead poisoning in the City of Syracuse.

Thank you for your thoughtful consideration.

Sincerely,

North, South, East, and West Branch Leaders

of

Families for Lead Freedom Now!
